Rehearsal Dinner Set Back

Well . . . we've had a little set back with the rehearsal dinner. It was supposed to be at El Portrillo Mexican Restaurant three weeks from tomorrow. Not any more. Last night, El Potrillo had a fire. Here's the article from the local paper.

Now, we have to come up with a Plan B! Mom called Ms. Vicki tonight to discuss alternates. Here's a few of my brainstorm ideas for the dinner:
  • Brown bag it
  • BYOD - Bring your own dinner
  • Pot luck!
  • SONIC catering
  • Have pizza delivered to the church

I just think it's kinda funny that our rehearsal dinner burned! When I told Ashby, he just laughed nervously and said, 'It burned? Like . . . to the ground?' It didn't burn to the ground, but it's not going to be open for a long time. . .

Regardless of what happens, we'll still be married at the end of Saturday!

Bad Blogger

Hi again . . .yes, it's been a while . . . It's just been insane lately. We had a great shower in Livingston on August 9th. From there, it's been a whirlwind of travel and working. I've been St. Joseph, Minnesoooooooota, and then Albuquerque, New Mexico. Actually home this weekend, but leaving for Boston on Wednesday. A couple more trips after that too!

SO, my point is I will post another real post again soon! :)

We are Tennis Dorks

What Ashby is doing right now . . .

What I'm doing right now . . .

YAY! Ashby's opponent was serving for the set and Ashby broke him!! Now the score is 5-5! Back on serve!

The tennis center has wireless Internet. I'm trying to get work done and watching Ashby's play off match, but I got distracted by the blog!

Sulphur Springs Landmark

If anyone asked me how to get to my high school, I would say, 'Just turn in by the giant cows.'

The Southwest Dairy Museum is located just behind Sulphur Springs High School! In front of the museam sit 2 giant cows which is a great landmark for telling people how to get the school! If you think I'm kidding, just take a drive past the school while you are in town to see the cows!

And in case you were wondering . . . it's actually a felony to toilet paper the cows, as a couple of guys in my high school class almost found out! I don't think they ever got caught, but it was interesting story about how they ran from the cops . . .

We Have a Musician!

We now have a musician! YAY!

Barbara is the organist/pianist at the church - and has been playing there for as long as I can remember. She's really good!

At the beginning of our conversation, Barbara asked, 'Have you thought about the music you want at the ceremony?' My answer was, 'Um . . . well . . . no, not really. Whatever you usually do for a wedding is fine with me!'

So in a matter of about 5 minutes we chose all the music :) I'm sure it will be beautiful! :)

YAY for checking one more think off of the list!

Yummy Places to Eat in Sulphur Springs - Part #1

Sulphur Springs has 7 mexican restaurants. The town is only 16,000 people, so I guess if you are from town, you like Mexican food!

El Charros is a great place on College Street. It's pretty small now, but used to be smaller.

My Daddy gets a #4 combo every single time. He's been getting it since the place opened in the '70's. The #4 is something like an enchilada, a taco, a tostado, and something else. MMMMMM makes me hungry now! I love their rice and cheese enchiladas!

Rehearsal Dinner Location Chosen!

We've chosen a place for the rehearsal dinner - El Potrillo Mexican restaurant! Mexican food is SO good in Texas. Mexican food in Georgia is imitation . . .

Yay for Texas Mexican food! I wonder if I can fit all of my favorite Sulphur Springs restaurants into the itinerary while we are there for the wedding . . .

Not Related to the Wedding

Ashby and I watched the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th! These pictures have nothing to do with the wedding - I just wanted to post them!

Here's Ashby reading his paper while the racers head toward the finish line!

Less Than 3 Months To Go!

Yay! The wedding is in less than 3 months! Hooray!

We have decided to go to South Carolina for our honeymoon trip. We'll fly back to Atlanta on October 4th, and the leave from the airport for Charleston, which is a 6 hour drive. After spending 3 days in Charleston, we are going to go to a Hilton Head Island. There are lots of golf and tennis resorts on the island - so we're going to play a lot of tennis while we are there! Should be good weather and not super crowded! Really looking forward to it!

David's Bridal Mistake

Well . . . we've had our first wedding related issue, and it had to do with the bridesmaid dresses. For their dresses, the bridesmaids can pick out their own black dress at David's Bridal. Candace and Courtney already picked out and ordered theirs, and Katie went this weekend to choose hers.

Katie asked David's Bridal to look up the dresses chosen by Courtney and Candace so that she could see them, and pick a dress that would look good with them. Turns out that David's accidently ordered Candace's incorrectly - they ordered the wrong skirt, and the whole thing in Apple red instead of black! Woopsies!

So I called David's today to fix the issue, and a manager will be giving me a call . . . we'll see if that happens.

I wonder if the manager is scared to call a bride back to discuss a problem. I bet they've talked to a LOT of bridezillas before!! Good thing I'm not one of those :) I'm sure they'll resolve the issue with the correct dress and color. However, the absoulte worse case scenario is we end up with one bridesmaid in red! Either way, we'll be married at the end of the day :)

Checking Things Off The List!

A few weeks ago we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond. This past weekend we registered for gifts at The Drug Store and the Dogwood in Livingston, Alabama. So now we are all done with this wedding task.

Yesterday was a very productive wedding task day. I picked up our wedding invitations from Party City AND confirmed with the minister that he is available on October 3rd to perform the ceremony.

Today, I ordered stamps online for the invites and shipped them straight to my mom. This weekend, I am going to ship the box of invites directly to Mom so that she can addresses and assemble them. She has pretty cursive handwriting!

I actually have a Microsoft Project Plan for the wedding - I need to update it and calculate the percentage complete we are with the project! :)

FBC Sulphur Springs

Ashby and I spent Memorial Day weekend in Sulphur Springs with my parents. Here are some pictures of the church and where this whole thing is gonna go down . . .
Here's the outside of the church. The sign is pretty old, and for some reason, the letters are pink neon at night. Never understood why it needed a pink neon sign . . .

Here's where the ceremony will be. The sanctuary holds A LOT more people than will actually be at the wedding. There is a chapel that is smaller, but the sanctuary is much prettier, which is why we picked it :)

This the church Activities Center (aka the gym) where the reception will be. Renee the reception planner lady tells me it will look less like a gym for the reception. Not sure how you can ever make a gym not look like a gym, so I'm interested to see what Renee comes up with!

Groomsmen's Idea for Tuxes

This is what the groomsmen suggested for the tuxedos! I think the bright orange vest really ties the look together perfectly! hahaha
Too bad we already picked tuxes this weekend . . . sorry guys! You are just a few days late with the suggestion! :)
